After landing, passport control and baggage claim can take a little longer, especially during the summer months and in the afternoon. With a planned transfer, this wait is not a problem, because your driver knows your flight number. As a result, the pickup time is set around your landing, not a fixed clock time.
Consequently, when you walk out of the terminal, you easily find your driver waiting with a name sign. Most importantly, this makes the first few minutes of the trip noticeably easier for guests visiting the region for the first time.
Transport options: road, train, Havaş shuttle and private transfer
There are several main options for reaching Ephesus and Selçuk. Driving your own car or a rental car gives you the most flexibility. However, you manage details such as navigation and parking yourself. The regional train (İZBAN and connecting services) is an economical option. That said, it can require a transfer, and its frequency varies by time of day.
Shared airport buses such as Havaş also serve central Izmir at set times. However, they may not offer a direct connection to Selçuk. Consequently, you may need to plan an additional transfer. Ephesus is an actively protected and managed UNESCO World Heritage Site. For that reason, vehicles can reach only the public ticket office and parking area outside the site, not the pedestrian-oriented core of the ruins.
