Assos, Çanakkale

Assos VIP Transfer

Assos VIP transfer serves guests who want a planned ride to this ancient settlement in the Ayvacık district of Çanakkale. In practice, Vanvia drives door to door towards the village and the harbour side in a Mercedes-Benz Vito VIP.

Assos is not built like an ordinary coastal resort. The stone village on the hill, the archaeological site and the harbour below each come with different road conditions. Therefore, agreeing the drop-off point when you book is the single most important step.

Why a planned Vanvia ride to Assos

The road to Assos does not run like a flat coastal drive. On the final stretch the gradient rises and the lane narrows. For this reason, travelling with a driver who knows the area makes a real difference, both to the ride itself and to choosing the right drop-off point.

The Mercedes-Benz Vito VIP cabin offers generous room for 1-8 passengers and their luggage. As a result, a large family or a small group travels together instead of splitting across cars. Your driver also helps with the bags.

Vanvia does not work from a fixed service list. We plan your departure time, any stop along the way and your arrival point together when you book. This way, the day's programme is built around you.

  • A direct ride from your address to Assos, with no change on the way.
  • Passenger and luggage planning around one cabin for 1-8 people.
  • The drop-off point is agreed in advance, based on real road access.
  • The return leg can be arranged inside the same reservation.

The road in from Çanakkale and Ayvacık

Most journeys reach Assos through the Çanakkale city centre or through Ayvacık. The route grows winding as it nears the coast, so we do not commit to a fixed arrival time here.

In summer, and on long weekends, traffic in the area rises noticeably. At this point, moving the departure earlier is the simplest way to keep the drive relaxed.

Road conditions can also change with the weather. We share the current picture with you when you book and again before you travel.

Where the vehicle stops in Behramkale

The acropolis of ancient Assos and its Temple of Athena stand on the hill rising above Behramkale. The village's stone-paved lanes are narrow and largely given over to walking, and no vehicle ever drives inside the archaeological site.

Therefore, your driver sets you down at the nearest genuinely road-accessible point in the village — a parking or drop-off area. You then walk the short remaining distance. How far that walk is depends on exactly where you are heading.

Sharing your accommodation or visiting address when you book helps us plan that point correctly in advance. Moreover, if your luggage is bulky, we choose the most convenient drop-off spot accordingly.

Visiting hours and entry conditions for the site are set by the relevant institution. You should confirm those details directly with them before your visit; Vanvia plans the transport only.

The harbour side and its steep descent

Below the hill, a harbour area stretches along the shore. The road down to it is narrow and steep, and on busy days the space along the waterfront can be limited.

Your driver sets you down at the most suitable road-accessible point on the shore. The vehicle does not drive onto the quay, the jetty or private property entrances, since the use of those areas belongs to their own operators.

If you are staying on the harbour side, we discuss the final approach to your address when you book. That way, you are not left walking further than necessary with your luggage.

Accommodation, luggage and arrival planning

Accommodation around Assos is spread between the hilltop village and the shoreline below. Road access differs between the two, so your address shapes the plan directly.

Once you send your arrival time and luggage volume in advance, we arrange the pickup around them. You can request a baby seat (0–4) during reservation. Availability is confirmed before booking.

  • Your accommodation address and any entrance detail belong in the reservation note.
  • Space for bulky luggage is set aside in advance.
  • For addresses that need a walk, the drop-off point is agreed upfront.
  • A baby seat (0–4) can be noted in the reservation, subject to availability.

Seasonal demand and timing

Assos fills up in summer and on spring weekends. In those periods both the road and the parking areas inside the village are busier.

On the other hand, the area grows noticeably quieter in autumn and winter. Whenever you come, we set the departure hour around your own programme.

The link with Çanakkale and the heritage areas nearby

Assos lies in the south of Çanakkale province. Many guests therefore combine the trip with a stay or an arrival in the city itself, and the province's wider transport needs are covered on their own page.

The site of Troy and the commemorative areas on the Gallipoli peninsula sit in the same province. We cover how transport to those places is planned in a separate guide; Vanvia offers no guiding or tour service there.

Booking process

A booking request for an Assos VIP transfer starts when you share your route. Next, you tell us the date, time, passenger count and luggage details. From there we confirm the vehicle and the amount, and you can approve it on WhatsApp or through the website.

In short, one planned ride takes you to Assos. We also note from the outset that the drop-off point depends on real road access, so there are no surprises on arrival.
