Should you fly into Cappadocia through Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) or Kayseri Airport (ASR)? A guide to help you decide based on your accommodation address and your flight schedule.
Two airports, one region: why the choice matters
You can reach the Cappadocia region through two airports: Nevşehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV), which sits in Nevşehir province, and Kayseri Airport (ASR), the main airport of the city of Kayseri. Both are genuine gateways to the region; which one suits you better depends on a handful of concrete factors, starting with your accommodation address and your flight schedule.
This guide is not a booking page. Its purpose is to explain which questions to ask yourself and to compare the two airports fairly. Vanvia provides transfer from both airports; we do not recommend one over the other in this guide.
Choosing by your accommodation address
The first question is where you are staying. NAV sits in Nevşehir province and is geographically closer to the cave-hotel districts around Göreme, Uçhisar, Avanos and Ortahisar. If your stay is in one of these areas, NAV usually means a shorter road journey.
ASR, by contrast, is the airport of the city of Kayseri. If your trip starts with a business meeting in Kayseri, or your stay is in a part of Ürgüp closer to Kayseri, ASR can be the more practical choice. The exact duration depends on current road and traffic conditions, so we give no fixed time or distance figure here.
Choosing by your flight schedule
The second question is which airport fits your flight schedule. For both airports, flight frequency and the route network vary by airline, travel date and season. For this reason, the airport that fits you best is the one whose actual flight options — on your travel date — line up with your accommodation address and your plan.
Overall, flight frequency and the route network can change over time. For this reason, we recommend checking current flight options through your preferred airline or booking platform; we do not publish a flight list here that could go out of date.
Season and road conditions
Winters in Central Anatolia can be cold and occasionally snowy. Roads towards both airports can be affected by seasonal conditions, so it is worth factoring in current weather and road conditions when planning a winter transfer.
That said, Vanvia does not guarantee an exact arrival time towards either airport; in winter months, we review the plan together against that day's real conditions.
Transfer from either airport with Vanvia
Whichever airport you choose, Vanvia takes you straight to your place to stay or your address. In fact, our NAV and ASR pages set out each airport's own pickup and transfer process in detail.
For example, if you are unsure, you can share your accommodation address and flight options with us; we can weigh up together which one might suit your programme better. Of course, the final decision is always yours.
